Terms and conditions

These terms apply to services provided by Edison & Co Removals Ltd, company number 16894167, registered office 38 Burnett Road, Plymouth, PL6 5BH.

1. Quotations

Prices given by phone, by email or by the calculator on this website are estimates based on the information you give us. A price is confirmed once we have the full details of the property, access and contents. If what we find on the day differs materially from what was described, we will tell you before continuing and agree any change with you.

2. Booking and deposit

A booking is secured by a deposit. The balance is due on completion of the move unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

3. Cancellation

Tell us as early as you can. Cancellations close to the move date may be charged, because the slot cannot usually be refilled at short notice. The charge will be set out to you at the point of booking.

4. Your responsibilities

Please make sure that parking is available at both ends where possible, that access is clear, and that you have told us about anything unusually heavy, fragile or valuable. Drawers and wardrobes should be emptied of heavy or breakable items unless we have agreed to pack them.

5. Items we do not carry

We cannot move hazardous or flammable goods, illegal items, or living things. We would rather you did not send cash, jewellery or documents such as passports in the van — please carry those yourself.

6. Liability

We take care of your belongings and are liable for loss or damage caused by our negligence. Please tell us about any damage as soon as you reasonably can, and in any event within a short period of the move, so that we can inspect it.

7. Insurance

8. Waste and clearance

Where we clear a property we do so under Environment Agency waste carrier, dealer and broker registration CBDU631506. A waste transfer note is available on request.

9. Subcontracting

We may use trusted subcontractors for part of a job, for example on long-distance moves. Our obligations to you are unchanged.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
