Saltash & the Tamar valley
Removals in Saltash
Four miles from our door — closer than most of Plymouth. Rated 5.0 from 35 Google reviews.
Closer than most of Plymouth, but a different county
Saltash is about four miles by road from our base — a shorter run than Plymstock or the Barbican. The county boundary makes no difference to how long it takes us to get there.
The crossing
There is one thing worth understanding about a Devon–Cornwall move here, and it is the river. Road traffic uses the Tamar Bridge; the Royal Albert Bridge alongside it is rail only. The bridge is tolled in the Cornwall-bound direction, and the Torpoint ferry is the alternative further south.
- It is one crossing, so it is a pinch point. Weekday mornings into Plymouth and evenings out of it are the slow periods. We plan a Saltash move around that rather than sitting in it.
- Both directions are normal for us. Plenty of our work is Plymouth people moving into Saltash for the space, and Saltash people moving into the city.
- Going further into Cornwall? Liskeard, Callington and Torpoint are all regular runs. Beyond that see long distance.
What the properties are like
Two fairly distinct halves, and they make for different days:
- Old Saltash — the terraces stepping down Fore Street and Culver Road towards the waterside. Steep, narrow, tight parking, and some of it listed. Same considerations as Plymouth's Victorian streets: tell us about the access before the day.
- The newer estates — Latchbrook, Burraton, Pillmere. Driveways, wider doors, straight stairs. Straightforward moves.
Clearances
We hold upper-tier waste carrier registration CBDU631506, which is what legally allows us to take waste away for payment and dispose of it properly — either side of the river. See house clearance.
